1.課程內容：本課程為「現代中文與習作（一）」的進階課程。限定修習過前述課程的學生選修。課程主要對現代語文、華文文學作品、評論與報導篇章進行背景介紹與文本細讀，期許學生在認識作家、鑑賞作品的同時，進一步建立個人的現代中文視野，熟悉各種語文表達方式、增強個人的表達技巧。本課程的基本綱要如下：
a.基礎語文訓練：寫作導論、日常語文與書寫、新聞閱讀與分析
b.文學知識與鑑賞：現代文學作品名篇研討
c.語文指引：錯別字、病句、標點符號、短文書寫
d.其他：作文、摘要、讀書報告、專題報告撰寫、
課程選讀作品包括經典文學與日常語文素材，全年課程分作三個單元進行：
a.經典閱讀：現代小說及散文名作
b.日常語文寫作與欣賞：現代詩、短文小品、流行歌詞、影劇文體。
c.新聞、報導與改寫：報導文學、故事新編、紀實、旅行和地理書寫。

2.教學特色：本課程選擇不同類型的現代中文作品進行細讀，著重學生之間的討論和表達，進行口語訓練及專題報告。同時輔以影音素材的運用和導讀，加強學生對語文表達多層面的理解。課程將視實際授課狀況做必要調整。
Course Description:
This course is an advanced reading and composition class for international students in Department of Chinese Literature. The primary task for the students of this class is to closely read and critically examine the many sophisticated and subtle historical, cultural and linguistic aspects of modern Chinese literary works and daily authentic texts. Through reading and getting familiar with texts of different genres, this course is designed to enable students to deepen their understanding of modern Chinese and continue developing their overall language proficiency.
Teaching framework of this course: (1) Basic language training: introduction to literary writing, daily language and writing, reading and analysis of news; (2) Literary knowledge and appreciation: discussion on modern literary works; (3) Instruction on language using: errata, misused sentences, punctuation marks, short article writing; (4) Others: writing skills of composition, summary, reading reports, and topic reports.
In order to achieve this goal, the course will lead students to read and analyze the following integrated texts: (1) Masterpieces of modern Chinese novels and essays; (2) General authentic texts, such as modern poems, modern short essays and lyrics of popular songs; (3) Authentic texts in specific genres, such as news writing, journalism writing and travel writing.
During the course of this class, students will also have assignments of oral presentations and writing reports, summaries of books, and long essays.
Specialties of this course: The instructor selects different genres of modern Chinese literature works and guides students to read them thoroughly. This course values discussion and expression of students after-reading thoughts, and trains international students’ oral speaking and presentation abilities. In addition, by applying video materials, students’ understandings in terms of language expression become more multi-dimensional. Course arrangement may subject to change according to actual teaching progress.
